Since I can remember, I’ve absolutely loved ball skirts. In fact, I wore a ball skirt to my high school’s Turnabout Dance one year. When I look back at the photos? The look feels timeless and classic – just like today’s Carolina Herrera Pink Ball Skirt.
As you know, Carolina Herrera remains one of my all-time favorite American womenswear brands. From ready-to-wear styles to more formal occasions, Carolina Herrera always gets it right. Plus, with Wes Gordon now at the helm of the brand, the collection continues to elevate to new heights.
Carolina Herrera Pink Ball Skirt
A few seasons ago, Carolina Herrera introduced a wide range of colorful pink ball skirts. Seriously, there were styles in nearly every hue – blue, green, yellow, the list goes on and on. Furthermore, Herrera released a range of wide belts to pair with the skirt to add visual interest to any outfit.
For this particular look, I styled the Carolina Herrera Ball Skirt with a crisp white button-down shirt. In terms of accessories, I opted for this emerald green wide belt, pink bauble earrings, and this colorful clutch.
To me, this look feels very “Americana.” Carolina Herrera continues to release new styles of ball skirts in different patterns and prints. In fact, I imagine that Wes Gordon and team will continue to do so.
Styling a Ball Skirt
While I styled the Herrera skirt this way, there are plenty of other options to bring a look to life. Below, I’m sharing some of my favorite tips to creating a unique outfit that fits your personal style.
Pair with a Turtleneck
Beyond styling with a white button-down shirt, I also like a ball skirt paired with crisp turtlenecks. Gone are the days of your mother’s turtleneck. Brands are consistently releasing fabulous new styles with embellished details and cool necklines.
Here’s the catch – do not opt for a turtleneck with a chunky knit fabric. Since ball skirts tend to have a lot of volume, stick to a more narrow silhouette on top. I personally love a black turtleneck. However, it completely depends on the color of the skirt.
Try a Bodysuit
For years, I wasn’t a big fan of body suits in fashion. Most of the styles felt too sheer or body con. Thankfully, designers are releasing high-quality options that are more durable, soft fabrics, etc.
Why does a bodysuit work? Well, the main challenge with any skirt is getting a top to tuck nicely into it. A bodysuit is a simple solution to create a clean line and transition from one fabric to another.
