For the fourth consecutive year, we were thrilled to attend the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic LA. This particular occasion was even more special, as it marked the 10th anniversary of the now-iconic event. In typical Veuve Clicquot fashion, the champagne gods smiled upon us with a perfect 78-degree day with light winds. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect!
We attended with two of our dear friends, Megan and John. Spending time with the them was the absolute highlight of the experience, and we all decided it will be a tradition for years to come! The Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic is always such an amazing experience, but it’s even more special when you can celebrate with people you truly adore!
What I Wore to the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic LA
As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I typically plan my outfit for this event long in advance. The same was true this year! However, over the past several months, I ran into an infinite amount of snafus with nearly every outfit idea.
My top choice was a gorgeous pleated pastel dress by a new-to-me brand. The catch? The dress isn’t available until November. Trust me, I tried everything (even trying to visit their showroom during a weekend trip). Sadly, they couldn’t get their hands on a sample. You better believe I’m still planning to get the dress for another special occasion! Ok, who am I kidding? I’d wear it on a morning run to Dunkin’!
Next up, my eyes became set on this statement coat with a lilac dress underneath. After it arrived, I tried it on at home and immediately knew it wasn’t going to work. Although stunning in person, the duchess fabric is insanely heavy, and the bow just wasn’t working on me. Back to square one…
Lastly, I reached out to one of my favorite designer partners, but after weeks of back and forth, every piece I requested was either out on loan to someone else or at the dry cleaners. Sigh.
As a last minute decision, I chose this polka dot dress (with this tulle number and sequin dress as back-ups to the back-up). Thankfully, the blush and black number was perfect! It was light and breezy, and polka dots ended up being the most popular print at polo (thanks, Julia). Next year, I’m going to do my best to make an outfit decision much further in advance. It was way too stressful this time around! Heck, I might start scoping things out now, lol!
Dress: Lee Matthews Rayne Polka Dot Midi Dress {also love this version and this one, too!}
Bag: Mansur Gavriel Cloud Clutch {waitlist available here} // Shoes: Steve Madden
Eyewear: Céline White Sunglasses // Jewelry: Rachel Parcell Rose Gold Earrings {c/o}
The Morning of the Polo Classic
Another time-honored tradition (for me) is having GlamSquad help make me look my very best for the event. They continue to be my go-to resource for on-demand hair and nails. I’ve also heard amazing things about their makeup service. I’m hoping and praying they decide to launch their services in Chicago soon! To book your GlamSquad appointment, visit here. In full disclosure, my GlamSquad experience was complimentary (although I’d pay for the convenience in an LA-minute).
The Main Event – VCPC10
Prior to the start of the match, the USC marching band performed for the crowd. Cheers erupted from around the field, and it set the perfect tone for the experience. I love they incorporated a local university into the occasion (and the performance was incredible!).
The Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic LA had three ticket types this year compared to the two options of previous years. General Admission, Rosé Garden, Le Grande Dame (new). Moreover, they hosted a VIP section for friends of the brand. This year, we were thankful to be invited to the lattermost section again; trust me, we do not take this generous invitation lightly!
The Le Grande Dame section is a new section at the event. It was outfitted with new décor (think birdcages and a modern furniture) and a higher ticket price ($1,500 each). From what we could tell, the section was super exclusive and a great way for guests to enjoy a relaxing experience.
As always, the Rosé Garden and VIP sections were packed, and I could tell that everyone was having the best time. This year, unlike others, VIP section members weren’t able to wander into the other areas. While I totally understand keeping things separated, I think it’s a miss since we were really hoping to admire the decor in the other sections (and see some of our friends).
Celeb Spotting at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic LA
I don’t know about you, but the closest I get to celebrities on a Saturday is Netflix. Last weekend was a different story. A few of the stars who came out for bubbly and polo were: (the) Julia Roberts, Kaley Cuoco, Mandy Moore, Busy Phillips, Lea Michele, Christina Hendricks, Retta Brad Goreski, Rachel Bilson, Garcelle Beauvais, and Rachel Zoe. Since everyone was in the VIP section, we had a chance to see all of them. One of the coolest parts of the experience was taking note of how happy, positive, and stylish they all were! Seriously – everyone was in the BEST mood. Makes sense – I’m the happiest Jenn I can be after a glass or two of Veuve, lol!
In Conclusion
If you hail from Southern California, or if you find yourself in LA in early October, you must attend the Polo Classic! It’s such an incredible experience and the perfect way to spend a Saturday. For more information on the event, click here!
Special thanks to Veuve Clicquot for inviting me to this year’s Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic LA. It’s partnerships like these that make Style Charade possible.
