Last week, I jaywalked. Yesterday, I drove 60 in a 55. Today, I am wearing white after Labor Day. That’s right folks, I’m a rule breaker! Tomorrow, I just might use a salad fork for my main course – watch out! In all honesty, some rules are meant to be broken. I’m still baffled that there are people who might frown upon lighter hues in fall and winter. I mean, really! In honor of going against the grain, I’m styling an ivory coat. Granted, this isn’t any ivory coat. This is the ivory coat, created by Chloé, one of France’s oldest and most revered fashion houses. It’s former creative directors include iconoclasts such as Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Phoebe Philo, and Clare Waight Keller.
Styling an Ivory Coat
I’ve been a longtime fan of the iconic brand. In fact, I still have my Chloé Paddington bag tucked away in my closet. Currently, their Nile bracelet bag (as seen below) is on regular rotation, along with their Pixie bag, and the classic Drew bag. Many say that investing in a designer bag is a great idea from a cost-per-wear standpoint. I completely agree with that sentiment, and I believe the same is true for coats. For a third of the year, I’m never without a warm outer layer. Plus, when you live in a climate that requires winter attire, there’s no reason to not invest in a few stylish, well-crafted options that will stand the test of time.
Recently, Nordstrom has expanded their selection of Chloé options. Beyond shoes, bags, and sunglasses, they now have amazing ready-to-wear pieces. In other words, if you’re looking to embody the classic French girl aesthetic, Nordstrom has you covered. Along this incredible wool coat, I am living for this scallop trim dress, this classic crewneck sweater, and these Audrey Hepburn-approved cropped pants. Also, may we have a moment of silence for this cape?!
All of Nordstrom’s Chloé options can be seen here, and also take a moment to peruse their diffusion line, See by Chloé. Best of all, they offer free shipping and free returns.
