Announcing the Sail to Sable x Style Charade Collection

I’m ecstatic to announce my first ever dress collection in partnership with Sail to Sable! The Sail to Sable x Style Charade collection will officially launch on Tuesday, June 16 at 11 AM CST // 12 PM EST. The line will be exclusively sold on SailtoSable.com, and a portion of the proceeds from the sales of the collection will benefit Feeding America®, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization.

We’ve designed wearable, timeless pieces that work for this unique summer of social distancing and beyond. The Sail to Sable x Style Charade collection features six dresses, including two colorful pleated maxi dresses, an embroidered tunic dress, a marvelous midi, and two versions of a perfectly breezy trapeze dress. I can’t wait to share all of them with you over the next few weeks leading up to the launch!

It’s also the first time Sail to Sable will be offering an extended size range of XXS-3X. The inclusive sizing was my main stipulation to create this line (more on this topic later!).

Sail to Sable x Style Charade Collection

The Sail to Sable x Style Charade collection are pieces you’ll have in your closet forever. We kept the collection extremely curated, as I’m a big believer you don’t need EVERY dress in the world… you just need the right ones.

Leading up to the launch, I’ll be unveiling all the styles (stay tuned!). Today, I’m excited to share the background on everything that went into this launch. While there are only six styles, you’d be amazed at the time, energy and effort required to make it happen! But I’m getting ahead of myself!

The Road to the Collection

Prior to any conversations with Sail to Sable, the road to a possible “Style Charade Collection” was a rocky one, friends. Over the past few years, I have been approached by multiple brands to design a clothing line. While it all sounds exciting, nothing ever felt right. However, in one particular case, an apparel line was extremely promising.

In the end, this previous experience ended up really hurting me. My opinions and point of view weren’t taken into account at all. Needless to say, the collaboration didn’t pan out, and it was for the best. As such, my viewpoint on capsule collections changed overnight. I felt heartbroken from that particular journey and promised to never put myself in that position again. If I was going to agree to do a line with any brand, I needed a true partner.

As they say, when one door closes, another one opens. The perfect door opened when Jen of Sail to Sable called…

Smooth Sailing with Sail to Sable

I’ll never forget the day she messaged to ask if I’d be open to doing a capsule collection with Sail to Sable. The funny thing? I first declined, and proceeded to explain why I didn’t have the heart to do a collab after being burned from the past experience. She sat, listened, asked questions, and responded, “ummm… that’s never going to happen here!”

She dove into what she thinking, how they approach collaborations, and why they wanted to work with me. Everything clicked. Plus, over the years, I’ve had the privilege of wearing countless Sail to Sable pieces, including plaid tunics, sequin trim tops, classic tunic dresses, and beyond. Last summer, I even traveled to Connecticut to celebrate their big anniversary with some of my fave fellow bloggers.

The line has always felt like an authentic reflection and extension of my personal style. Best of all Jen (the founder of Sail to Sable) and I hit it off from the very first day we met. Every time we chat, text, or hang out and Zoom, I feel like we’ve been friends forever.

Most importantly, I love partnering with an independent, female-owned and operated brand. Sail to Sable is not a huge conglomerate or big box store – they’re a dynamic team who have built this business from the ground up. I’m in awe of their work ethic, dedication, and commitment to quality, appropriate retail pricing, and ethical sourcing.

The Design Process

Since 2019, I’ve been working closely with Sail to Sable to make this dream a reality! Prior to the pandemic, Bob and I spent many a weekend flying to New York and Connecticut for in-person strategy meetings, fabric and sketch reviews, brainstorm sessions, and more. Since we started social distancing in early March, we’ve been Zooming, texting, emailing at night, mornings, and weekends.

During our first meeting in Connecticut, we spent hours in the Sail to Sable showroom discussing what the collection might look like. It was a Saturday, and we sat around the table all day reviewing colors, drawings, analytics, and ideas for designs that I’d be been dreaming up. By the end of the session, we easily had 20 different design ideas for dresses and even a few separates. We knew we wouldn’t move forward with all of them, but the creative process just flowed so easily!

After that first meeting, Jen, Bob and I went for drinks, and we had a BLAST chatting about life, business, kids, and everything in between. By the time we flew back to Chicago, I knew we’d made the right decision to collaborate with Sail to Sable. It felt like a home away from home!

What Sizes Will Be Offered?

One important part of the line was making sure it had inclusive sizing. Therefore, this will be the very first Sail to Sable is offering styles in sizes XXS – 3X!

What is the Fit of the Dresses?

The entire collection fits true to size, and best of all – the majority of the styles don’t have zippers! Yes, NO ZIPPERS! Five of the styles are intentionally zipper-less, with the exception of the tunic dress – a signature Sail to Sable silhouette.

You can also wear pretty much any style of bra with each dress! I basically took some of my pet peeves for dresses and turned them on its head. Make sure to include lingerie loops (a small detail that makes ALL of the difference), and don’t bother fighting with zippers!

The line features comfortable, effortless silhouettes that are modern, not matronly. People’s recent change in lifestyle was also kept in mind since consumers are spending more time at home than ever. The pieces are perfect for working remotely or lounging at home, in the backyard, and on the patio during the warmer months.

Do you have more questions about fit? Visit the Sail to Sable fit guide for more info!

How Much Will the Sail to Sable x Style Charade Collection Cost?

The Sail to Sable x Style Charade collection retails between $198-$228. I am really proud of the price point of the collection as it’s an accurate reflection of the design, production, quality, fabrics, fit, and embellished details. I’m also thrilled that a portion of the proceeds from the sales will benefit Feeding America®.

What’s Next?

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be previewing all the styles for you! It would mean so much if you’d be willing to help spread the word, promote on Instagram Stories, and share with family and friends. As an aside, bloggers and social media tastemakers – SailtoSable.com is a part of rewardStyle, so please feel free to make use of any affiliate link you’d like!

For more information, visit SailtoSable.com. Stay tuned for the launch on Tuesday, June 16th at 10 AM CST / 11 AM EST, exclusively at SailtoSable.com.

Thank you to the countless people and partners who have worked so hard to date to get to the collection to this point! This project has been a true “pinch me moment,” and I’m so proud of the final result. I hope you’ll love the line as much as we do!
