What to Know About the Sahar Dada Womenswear Collection

Sahar Dada Chicago Maxi

Sahar Dada Womenswear Collection

Years ago, I had the chance to photograph this gorgeous black embellished maxi dress by Sahar Dada womenswear collection. Are you familiar with her and her brand?

Overall, Sahar Dada built a womenswear collection inspired by her multicultural upbringing. Furthermore, she’s taken that inspiration to infuse her fabrics, silhouettes, and hand-embellishments to develop handcrafted womenswear pieces for the modern woman.

Fabrics include luxe silks, hand-dyed chiffons, and antique gold threads. no detail is overlooked. Furthermore, Sahar Dada attended Illinois Institute of Art – Chicago to pursue design. Additionally, she was tapped by Macy’s to participate in their 2011 and 2012 Chicago Incubator.

Sahar Dada Design Inspirations

Based on my research, Sahar was especially influenced by her mother. Growing up, she watched her mom oversee design and manufacturing for a brand. Soon, she was traveling internationally to explore new techniques, fabrics, materials, and beyond.

The culmination of her childhood, world travels, family, and education have brought her to this moment. In fact, I highly recommend checking out her most recent lookbook. From soft turquoise hues to bold black embellished shift dresses, Sahar shows the depth and breadth of her design capabilities.

Chicago-Based Designers Like Sahar Dada

Thankfully, I’ve had the opportunity to meet some phenomenal Chicago womenswear designers. Sahar Dada is one, along with Azeeza, Mac Duggal, Maria Pinto, among others.

Often, the media will joke about the fact that Chicago is the “second city” with fashion. Furthermore, I’ve had candid discussions with countless bloggers about how they feel the Windy City simply can’t keep up with New York and Los Angeles. Frankly, that’s not true.

Plus, look at the pandemic! Bloggers and influencers continue to move out of big cities to “secondary markets” to have more space, more room, and expanded opportunities. Fashion, as we know it, will no longer be about what markets you reside in. Instead, it’ll be how you express your personal style.
