For the past decade, we’ve been traveling to Palm Springs. While many people opt for home rentals through Airbnb and Vrbo, we prefer to stay at hotels. When the Saguaro Palm Springs opened, we knew it was a destination that we wanted to check-out.
The colorful doors! The pool! Oh, and the great location in Palm Springs. Well, after years of staying at other properties in and around Palm Springs and Palm Desert, I have a lot of opinions about The Saguaro.
Saguaro Palm Springs Hotel Review
Palm Springs hotels are not cheap. Sure, rates drop during slower months when temperatures can soar above 100 degrees. However, Palm Springs hotel prices tend to soar nearly every other month, and they can run you upwards of $350 per night or more.
Overall, The Saguaro Palm Springs has a strong “hipster” vibe. Sit in the hotel lobby for 10 minutes, and a stream of 21-25 year olds will spill into the space. There is nothing wrong with that fact, but it’s important to note there’s a strong Millennial vibe.
Again, Bob and I stayed at the property (and took these photos) many years ago. The carpet was fresh, the doors were still perfectly painted, and the grounds were impeccably landscaped. Since that first stay, Bob and I have stopped in for brunch at the restaurant and to visit friends at the property.
Guys, thee property has gone downhill since then. The carpet is disgusting and the public spaces look dirty. Paint chipping, stains everywhere, etc. Gross. Listen, hotels and resorts are really suffering due to the pandemic. I’m not trying to take the Saguaro Palm Springs down in the process.
However, it would be remiss of me to say they couldn’t pay me to visit until they do renovations and updates.
Where Should You Stay in Palm Springs?
Instead, I highly recommend La Sirena Villas, Holiday House or Sands Hotel in Palm Desert. Sands is a farther drive, but I fell in love with that property. Let’s just hope they can keep the cleanliness of everything!
