One of the best ways to spend a morning or afternoon on Nantucket is to venture onto the ‘Sconset Bluff Walk. Located on the island’s easternmost side, Siasconset is a quiet, yet beautiful locality of Nantucket. The Bluff Walk begins just off of Front Street, a stone’s throw from downtown ‘Sconset and concludes at Sankaty Head. The path is also easily discoverable via Google Maps. What starts as a modest trail made out of ground-up shells eventually transforms into a narrow footpath. What’s most amazing about this public trail is that it’s wedged between the ocean front and the private yards of some of the island’s most expensive homes. It’s incredible to see the properties up close, and it’s kind of crazy that it’s totally normal! For our trek onto the Bluff Walk, I wore this pink ruffle off shoulder dress {only $49} and my favorite block heel sandals {on sale!}.
While we didn’t cover the entire mile and a half excursion on this year’s trip, we did so a few years back, and it was so fun! The experience takes just over 30 minutes one-way, so be sure to stop at Sconset Market to get some water before you go! Also, bring your camera, because the views of the ocean and all of the gardens are truly stunning. Lastly, pay close attention to all of the cottages and homes you’ll pass by, because most of them have been named by the owner, and they typically have a carved wooden sign above their main doorway. Many of them are clever puns, which I absolutely love! After you return to downtown ‘Sconset, grab a bite to eat and relax at either Sconset Cafe, The Summer House, or The Chanticleer.
