Shop Buru continues to be one of my favorite brands of all time. So today, I’m delighted to share this gorgeous Buru x Pencil and Paper Co dress and opera coat. Gen Sohr, the founder of P&P Co., collaborated with Morgan of Shop Buru to create a colorful and chic capsule collection that’s perfect to style for parties, date night, and beyond.
Pencil and Paper Co Dress
New to Shop Buru and Pencil and Paper Co? First, Shop Buru is a brand that has been behind some of my favorite outfits of all time. Truly! For many years, I’ve loved styling their collection at events like this rainbow outfit at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic New York, to this posh purple outfit, and this fabulous floral dress. The list goes on and on!
Buru recently celebrated their 10th anniversary, and the company remains committed to building a brand for women in all stages of life. Using deadstock fabrics, their small-batch production and design team dream up the most magnificent pieces. From statement skirts to darling dresses, they truly put a ton of care and thought into everything they sell. In addition to selling online, Shop Buru has two retail locations – one in Charleston and the other in New York.
Pencil & Paper Co. is the brainchild of Nashville-based, Gen Sohr. In addition to running her own company, Gen has released a series of incredible capsule collections, including Printfresh, Mackenzie-Childs, Sail to Sable, and now – BURU. It’s a joy to see her continue to expand and grow her business!
Red Opera Coat
Today’s look features the most gorgeous Red Opera Coat, which is crafted out of a luxe duchess satin fabric (also available in emerald green). I love the versatility of this ankle length style – perfect to wear as an overcoat, layer or in my case – a wrap dress. Plus, it’s fabulous for Valentine’s Day, the holidays, and beyond.
Another fun design detail is the lining, featuring a gorgeous ivory and gold polka dot print. I’ve been tempted to wear this Pencil and Paper Co dress reversed to showcase the fabric of the lining. It’s so chic!
Fit & Care
Due to the unique nature of this textile and fabric, their team recommends getting this dress dry cleaned. Also, I chose to size down to an XS, and the fit is perfect on me. Check out Shop Buru’s comprehensive fit guide HERE. Their collection is currently available in sizes XXS to 2X.

Lastly, I want to give major shout-outs my incredible friends Kelly of Kelly Golightly and Beth and Danielle of Palm Beach Lately. These amazing ladies have also worked with Buru to create gorgeous capsule lines. Kelly’s capsule was perfectly Palm Springs-inspired. I seriously loved how hers came together!
