For our recent trip to Palm Beach, the first outfit I packed was this pastel gingham look by J.McLaughlin. After all, we were there to embrace the sunnier, warmer weather. Why not dress accordingly?! Moreover, we had booked a stay at the pinkest hotel in town – it only seemed right to bring my new pastel gingham outfit.
J.McLaughlin Pastel Gingham Outfit
Immediately upon seeing these pieces in their spring look book, I knew I had to have it. I love the proportions and how the different shades help breakup what would otherwise be a gratuitously repetitious outfit. Now, I’m all for a matchy-matchy look (I kinda live for them), but it’s harder to do so with a singular shade of pastel gingham. Best of all, gingham has been part of the DNA of J.McLaughlin since its founding.
Tyra Blazer
This lightweight car-coat-style jacket makes for a perfect third piece for any look. Throw it on over a simple tee and denim, and you’ll immediately feel more pulled together. Better yet, pair it other gingham layers for the ultimate spring outfit. I love it’s machine washable, and I found it fits true to size. J.McLaughlin also has a double-breasted pastel gingham option called the Ressie Blazer.
Ivy Pant
The Ivy Pant is available in a whopping 12 colors (five of which are gingham). After trying them on for the first time, I could see why. From the cropped kick flare shape to the wide waistband, the shape is so flattering. Better yet, this style has stretch (love that)! For reference, I’m 5’4″ and found the Ivy Pant to hit at a perfect everyday length for my height. I took my regular pant size in this style.
Wavesong Tee
Another J.McLaughlin style made in several colors is this classic Wavesong Tee. Seen here in a bright pink gingham, it’s also made in dark blue gingham, navy stripes, and other patterns. The boatneck features buttons at the shoulder and 3/4 sleeves. Also, this is another fabric with stretch. They refer to it as their “Catalina Cloth,” and it can be found on several styles the brand creates and throughout many seasons. Another true-to-size option for me.
Baccara Bucket Bag and Concetta Loafer
I’ve always loved J.McLaughlin accessories, and this spring is no exception. For their bags, they always find unique ways to incorporate natural materials. For example, the bamboo handles and grasscloth inlay make the Baccara Bucket Bag a timeless warm weather option. I know I’ll be getting a ton of use from it for the foreseeable future. I also love this top-handle wicker style and this Jackie O inspired leather hobo with bamboo clasp. Additionally, these classic pink suede loafers are even more lovely in person. The material is so soft, and they’re also available in white.
A Second J.McLaughlin Look
Another J.McLaughlin outfit I sourced from the new spring look book is full of classic staple pieces. Items I know I’ll pair with so many things in my closet. Last season, I shared about a white split hem pant of theirs I loved, so I knew these Rainey Jeans would be just as good — and they are! This straight leg style is so incredible comfortable, and I’ve already styled them several time with other layers for work. Obsessed!
