Ah, Moira Rose. A TV character unlike any other in recent memory. Additionally, Moira Rose, played by actress Catherine O’Hara, is the eccentric matriarch in Schitt’s Creek. The series doesn’t disappoint when it comes to fashion – especially the Moira Rose outfits.

Frankly, Schitt’s Creek is one of the funniest (and most touching) shows I’ve seen. From David’s statement sweaters, Alexis’s boho style, and Johnny’s crisp suits, each family member brings a unique sartorial viewpoint.

However, none even come close to the Moira Rose outfits. Daphne Guinness, British heiress, was the inspiration behind Moira’s personal style. Yes, that Guinness. Naturally, the likes of Alexander McQueen, Givenchy, Stella McCartney and others make regular appearances.

Frankly, I don’t have the same avant-garde style as Moira, my recent Tory Burch pieces have a similar palette. Plus, the color scheme is classic and edgy – think classic black, white, and metallics. As such, I rounded up a selection of posh pieces and outfits that make me think of Moira.

Furthermore, I learned the show had a modest budget for costume designers. In fact, the show creator constantly sourcing consignment stores and online resellers for their wardrobe. Consequently, the eclectic sensibility of Moira Rose was all the better.

Plus, the show’s co-creator, Dan Levy, collaborated on the character’s styling process. Together with longtime Canadian designer Debra Hanson and assistant, Darci Cheyne, Levy and team brought each character to life. Best of all, Dan Levy also credits O’Hara with Moira’s outfits.

Fun fact, Levy said that costume fittings with Catherine were always fun because they could experiment. Namely, they followed the mantra, “too much is never enough.” Who doesn’t love that?
