We could all use an extra dose of color in our lives, right? Today, I’m sharing my full Mlouye bag review! Friends, this is a colorful handbag brand that you need (and will want) to know. In fact, I predict it will be one of the hottest handbag brands in 2021!
While the line officially launched in 2015, the company is really only in its third inning. Rest assured, Mlouye will soon be in the lexicon of mass consumers similar to the likes of Cult Gaia, Staud, and Mansur Gavriel. Frankly, I’m surprised they’re not there already!
What is Mlouye?
New to the brand? If so, let me give you a quick background! First, Mlouye is designed by Meg Rure, a former industrial designer turned handbag designer. Her designs feature clean, minimalist lines and architectural silhouettes. Plus, the collection is colorful! Love that!
Rure’s collection is rooted in the Mondrian, Kandinsky, Klee, and Bauhaus design movements. She leverages them as her main reference points for her collection. Therefore, it’s no surprise there are so many architectural and colorful details.
Since the launch, the brand has caught the attention of a slew of celebrities including Gigi Hadid as well as countless fashion influencers. Even though models and celebrities tote around the style, the brand feels extremely down-to-earth. Maybe it’s the attainable price point? More on that later!
Mlouye Bag Review
Alright, let’s dive into my Mlouye bag review. The Turkish handbag brand caught my attention two years ago when I purchased my first style – the Chequer tote. In fact, I toted the lilac striped bag to the Kentucky Derby, streets of Los Angeles, Chicago, Palm Desert, in front of murals, and beyond.
For the most part, Mlouye values simplicity, functionality, and fashion. Perhaps that’s why I love the line so much. Listen, the brand isn’t full blown designer like Chanel, Dior, and Louis Vuitton. As such, I wouldn’t call the collection a substantial investment piece. In other words, it most likely won’t gain monetary value over time.
However, I strongly believe your emotional connection with Mlouye pieces will grow. Plus, in many ways, those attributes matter way more when it comes to in fashion, you know? Best of all, the line has strong “cost per use.” You’ll be wearing the bags a TON over the next several years.
Mlouye Chequer Tote Review
My first foray into the world of Mlouye was the lavender Chequer Tote. As I mentioned above, I packed the bag in my suitcase for travels around the world. I find the style to be extremely versatile, as it works well for both casual and more elevated outfits.
The Chequer Tote is available in a variety of colors. The lilac and white version had me at hello! If you’re new to the brand, I highly recommend this style. Plus, I love it embraces the clear bag trend while still keeping a very structured style. Clear bags keep you honest, lol!
Pleated Lantern Bag
If you’re still nervous about dipping your toe in the water, start with the Pleated Lantern Bag. In fact, Mlouye calls it their “signature bag.” I get the sense it’ll always be a part of their core collection since it’s a bestselling style.
Best of all, the styles come with switchable straps. It can be worn as a top handle bag or shoulder/crossbody bag. Plus, the Mini Pleated Lantern is available in countless colors.
Pleated Tool Bag
Next up, Mlouye’s Pleated Tool Bag. It’s the epitome of ladylike, feminine elegance. I mean, how cool is this bag? I love the size and silhouette which can be worn as a clutch or slung over your shoulder. Plus, the Tool Bag is available in seven different colors. Part practical, part posh, I’m seriously in love with this style!
Pleated Brick Bag
One of the newest additions to the collection is the Pleated Brick Bag, featuring a unique folded leather with zigzag edges. The Brick handbag includes a detachable, adjustable strap. Therefore, wear it as a crossbody, shoulder or top handle bag. Very versatile!
Additionally, the Pleated Brick bag has a magnetic closure to make sure nothing falls out. I love the various colors ranging from ombré hues to solid options. The most challenging part is picking a hue!
Mlouye Sera Tote
Finally, I’m excited to share Mlouye’s newest handbag, the Sera Tote. The Sera Tote is available in two sizes – the Mini Sera Tote and Sera Tote. Frankly, I love the regular Sera Tote style, since it fits more items. However, the Mini option is so cute, and it’d be perfect for special occasions.
Company Expansion
Since the launch in 2015, the company has expanded beyond structured bags to shoes. There’s rumblings the line will evolve into ready-to-wear, as well. Similar to the handbags, the boots and mules feature architectural, modern details.
For example, the Pleated Heel Mules take a cue from their iconic Pleated Lantern Bag. The style feature a square toe, padded insole, and pleated heel made out of solid oak. Additionally, the boots come in a variety of styles including lace-up options to pleated heel boots.
Mlouye Handbag Prices
Currently, Mlouye handbags range in price from $195-$615. The most inexpensive style is the Hobo XS, and the most expensive is the Hobo L. Best of all, you won’t find a style over $1,000 – truly refreshing! Great styles shouldn’t have to cost a fortune. I sincerely hope Mlouye keeps their handbag prices relatively reasonable.
Shipping Information
Mlouye ships their collection worldwide, and shipping is free on all orders. Love that! After you purchase, in-stock items ship in 1-2 business days. Furthermore, the delivery takes about 2-4 days depending on where you live. Best of all, the company pays for duties and taxes for shipments to all countries.
Mlouye Bags Return Policy
When you purchase from the company’s website, returns can take place within 14 business days after the order is placed. To do so, you need to email support@mlouye.com, and their team will get back to you with more details.
Shop the brand at Shopbop and FarFetch. I expect it’ll continue to expand to other websites soon. Furthermore, if you’re lucky, you’ll stumble upon a great deal on Poshmark, eBay, and The Real Real. Funny enough, I constantly see my photos of wearing the Chequer Tote on Poshmark sellers pages, lol.
