Happy Tuesday, friends! Today, I’m so excited to share this gorgeous Mestiza New York Chinoiserie dress. Isn’t it stunning? Mestiza has become one of my go-to brand for dresses for both casual and special occasions. Furthermore, their team is just BEYOND incredible. I’ve worked with many fashion teams over the years, and Mestiza is one of my all-time favorite.

Isn’t the fabric just beautiful? In addition to the dress, Mestiza New York created a matching face mask to the dress. Brilliant! While vaccines are rolling out quite quickly, face masks will continue to be essential, and I love they’ve developed styles to complement their gorgeous creations.

Ping Tom Memorial Park

Overall, I was so excited to photograph at Ping Tom Memorial Park. It’s a hidden gem in our great city. Beyond the stunning city skyline views, I love the juxtaposition of a serene space converging with a bustling city. Sitting on the expansive lawns, you can take in sights of countless forms for transportation – the CTA and Metra trains, expressways, and even boats on the Chicago River.

In June 2018, I shared this gorgeous mural at Ping Tom Memorial Park. The commissioned art is titled, “All As One,” a collaboration between artists @AndyBMix, @AnnaPMurphy, and @sifuchow thanks to the @cbcacchicago, @theChicagoCommunityTrust, and @metroplanners. The artists’ goal was to bridge different cultures together, and to embrace differences, similarities, and togetherness.

Shortly after we first photographed it, the wall was tagged. The local community came together and raised money. Ultimately, they repainted and repaired the mural only to be tagged a second time. Ultimately, the art was repaired yet again, and a protective sealant was put over top to protect it. In so many ways, I wish we had a protective sealant for the AAPI and BIPOC community as a whole. Yet, while racism remains very real, we remain resilient and strong. My hope is that we continue to embody all this mural represents.
