Greetings from Palm Springs! This past week, we headed out West for Palm Spring’s Modernism Week, to catch up with friends, and capture new content for an exciting launch coming up. One item I also packed? This amazing and versatile Mestiza Convertible Dress from their new spring collection.

Friends, it’s AMAZING.

After pulling up to the Parker Palm Springs, I stepped out of our rental car to carry this dress inside. I was immediately met by a stylish guest at check-in who stopped me and said, “wait a minute, is that the gown that can be unzipped in multiple ways?” She immediately clocked the style. I was shocked! She went on to explain she’d seen it on the brand’s website and was considering it for an upcoming wedding. Such a small world – love it!

Why should I be surprised? This is the ultimately statement style – memorable, unique, and interesting. Beyond wearing it as a gown, it can unzipped to transform into a midi dress, and then unzipped again to be a mini dress. SO good. You’re basically investing in three dresses in one. Brilliant!

About Mestiza New York

Over the years, Mestiza New York has been behind some of my all-time favorite looks. First was their iconic Georgina Gown in Paris in front of the Eiffel Tower. We woke up super early to capture these shots. I still remember how freezing it was that day, but gracious – they were worth it! Grateful for these beautiful shots (and gorgeous gown, of course!).

From their Palm Tassel Dress in Dallas, to their Blush Tassel style in Palm Beach, and even this Strapless Metallic Gown at Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, Mestiza has truly traveled the world with me. I love their brand so much, and I especially adore their team.

Over the years, the co-founders, Alessandra and Louisa, have been so supportive. The two women share a commitment to crafting products in small batches. It’s been a joy watching their brand continue to grow and expand in a thoughtful way.

How Do Convertible Dresses Work?

Mestiza New York has trademarked the term, “Convertible” styles by providing multiple looks with just one garment. For example, meet their Ellison Convertible Tiered Gown, made out of a silk faille fabric. I love the versatility of the style. Also, the pattern of the dress? Darling!

The brand features this print in several other styles in their new collection, including their Carmen Midi Dress and Gillian Bow Mini Dress. So good! It’s nearly impossible to pick a favorite, right?

Size and Fit

I found this style to fit true to size (I’m wearing a size 4). The only catch is the bottom layer of the maxi style is a bit too long for me (I’m 5’4 on a good day). Therefore, I’m getting it tailored. However, it’s totally worth it as I’ll be wearing this style for years to come.

The Ellison Convertible Tiered Gown is available in sizes 0-14, and you can read more details in their fit guide HERE.

My only *minor critique is I wish the straps were adjustable. The fabric is super luxe, and I don’t mind not having to deal with a bra-like adjuster on the back. But I do think some of you may want to also tailor the straps slightly depending on how the dress falls on you. Hope that makes sense!
