While Lisbon and Porto are two of the most popular cities in Portugal, Cascais was high on our list to visit. One of my friends, Kit, had visited earlier in the year (see her trip recaps here), and told me that it was a must! She did not let us down! Plus, this lovely coastal town is only about 30 kilometers away from Lisbon. After doing some research, and seeing photos of these stunning mosaic sidewalks in the Centre of Cascais, I was sold. To compliment the beautiful scenery, I packed this kate spade boho floral jacquard dress, which also happens to be one of my fave looks of the pre-fall season.

You may notice a little haziness in some of the photos. This is not due to any of my fancy editing skills, haha! We woke up really early to take pictures before the crowds. We had visited the area the day before, and the entire Centre of Cascais was PACKED. I mean – you would have thought there was a Carolina Herrera sample sale! So many people. It turns out the Cascais Festas do Mar (Sea Festival) was taking place. It’s the only free summer festival in all of Portugal. Think 10 days of concerts featuring classical to modern music acts with different performers every day. Very cool, but NOT conducive for blog shoots – lol!
Therefore, we checked out of our hotel first thing and sped to the city center. When we arrived, the entire coastline was covered in fog. It looked like someone was planning to film Casablanca part two! So much for our clever plan, haha! Thankfully, the blogging gods smiled upon us, and the fog lifted quickly.
While in town, we stopped by the cutest café, ordered two Americanos, and watched the Cascais come to life. From the morning food deliveries to locals greeting one another (“bom dia”) and gossiping about the previous evening’s activities, it was such a fun scene! There was something so charming about the experience. Looking back on the trip, this quiet morning in Cascais is among the top highlights. Perhaps it’s because, for a few seconds, it felt like we transformed from tourists to locals… and I never wanted to give up that feeling.
I can’t say enough wonderful things about kate spade new york’s boho floral jacquard dress. The dark floral mini has the most adorable collar detail with black bow (both detachable). The bow is a pin that can be worn separately with other outfits as needed (same with the collar). Obsessed! It’s the perfect piece to transition to fall. I plan to pair it with either a white button down or black turtleneck and tights come this fall. kate spade new york’s new collection features some incredible luxe pieces that you’ll love.
