A Compete Review of the Four Seasons Napa Valley

Disclaimer: We collaborated with Four Seasons Napa Valley on our stay, but all opinions are my own.

Approximately 90 miles from San Francisco International Airport rests a little slice of paradise – the Four Seasons Napa Valley Resort and Residences. Transporting you to a restful respite away from the world. From the moment we drove up the entrance, my cares immediately lifted. My relaxation level went to 100, and I was in heaven. Today, I’m sharing my Four Seasons Napa Valley review, including details on the accommodations, activities, dining options, and beyond.

It’s no secret that I love luxury hotels and five-star service. In fact, hotels/resorts are where we choose to spend our money. We’re not the type of couple to splurge on many things. Travel is one of them. Additionally, we’re not the vacation rental home type of couple. We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE hotels and resorts. Plus, I become very loyal to brands that I love (United is a great example).

This particular trip happened to be only our second experience at a Four Seasons property. Fun fact: we actually kicked off our honeymoon at the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago.

Four Seasons Napa Valley Review

The five-star luxury hotel is located in Calistoga, a calmer and more serene destination than more bustling spots throughout Sonoma and Napa Valley. Described as “a one-of-a-kind wine country resort set within a world-class vineyard,” Four Seasons Napa Valley offers a range of experiences for guests.

Four Seasons Napa Valley Review – Accommodations

Overall, the property has a wide range of accommodations to suit various group sizes – couples, families, multi-gen groups, corporate, meetings, and leisure. In fact, they have 14 different types of guest rooms, suites and even villas.

The resort was kind enough to upgrade us to a Palisades One-Bedroom Suite, and let’s just say hotel stays will never be the same again. Friends, this suite was AMAZING. It’s 960 square-feet and features a fireplace in living area. Since our suite was located on the second level of the building, we had a furnished balcony and vaulted ceiling.

Also, let’s talk about the bathroom. Well, actually there are two full baths but let’s talk about the primary. Trust me, this is not your average luxury hotel primary bathroom. Talk about interior design inspiration for days. The wet-room style bathroom features a shower. deep soaking tub, double vanity sinks (a must for a couple), and large closets to store your luggage, clothes, and accessories.

Oh, and don’t forget the 20-bottle, temperature-controlled wine refrigerator and private bar, featuring premium local wines, spirits, and curated stemware for Napa Valley wine.

My favorite attribute of the suite was the private terrace with views of the vineyard and Palisades Mountains. At night, Bob and I sat on the terrace sipping wine. There were several moments we looked at each other and said, “is this real life?” The views, the sounds of nature, the sunset – it was all just perfect. Even now and thinking back during our time there, I get a bit emotional (not kidding).

If we’re fortunate enough to return to the property, I’d love to see the Estate Villa and Bodega Suite. Frankly – all of the rooms. I love how each one has a different view and unique attributes that makes it special.

TRUSS Restaurant & Bar

This is casual Calistoga dining at its finest. We had the pleasure of eating both breakfast and dinner at TRUSS, and everything was simply spectacular. During breakfast on the second day, Bob even asked to order the exact same dish he had the day before since he loved it so much (the Huevos Rancheros).

On the other hand, I ordered the Calistoga Sunrise featuring eggs any style, hash brown, choice of bacon, ham, or breakfast sausage and toast. Sure, this dish selection may seem a boring. However, I’m a big believer that if a restaurant can’t perfect the staples, they probably shouldn’t do anything else. Everything was delicious and well crafted.

Dinner was a bit rushed (on our end, not theirs), since we arrived late back to the property after doing a photo shoot with Mark & Graham (more on that soon!). The restaurant still squeezed us in even though they should be closing. Now that’s service!

Everything we ordered was fabulous, and I especially recall the cocktails being delicious. Sure, Napa Valley is all about wine, but TRUSS has exceptional cocktails.

CAMPO Poolside

Another dining option for hotel guests is CAMPO Poolside, a Cal-Mexican fusion that offers seasonal menus and poolside classics. First, I loved the Ensalada de Frutas, which featured melon, mango, jicama, cucumber and Tajín, chili and lime. Since we visited in summer, this dish was incredibly refreshing.

Based on a recommendation from a member from their team, we also ordered the Tuna Tlayuda, which didn’t disappoint. Think of it almost like a pizza. It get a bit messy if you’re not careful since you break pieces apart, but it’s the perfect poolside dish.

Pools

Another aspect of the property we adored? They have two separate pools – one for families, one for adults. While they are located nearby, it was nice to have options. The adult pool is 32-meters, heated, and features four swim lanes. There are even outdoor misting decks, relaxation pads, and a heated whirlpool for cooler days.

Furthermore, the amazing team at Four Seasons Napa Valley walk around every hour with complimentary amenities, including small plates of refreshing bites and even cucumber and lime slushies (my fave).

However, the most magical part of our poolside experience? The Super Cabana. Indeed, this is a “super cabana experience” where we had our own private cabana lounge area with couches, chairs, and day beds. There’s even a flat-screen TV, outdoor fan, Bluetooth access and Wi-Fi, along with a dedicated cabana host to help you order food and drinks at your leisure.

Spa Talisa

On our first day on the property, we also had the chance to do a private tour Spa Talisa. If you’re staying on property, I highly recommend booking a service. Beyond the amazing design and amenities, including a Spa Garden whirlpool and outdoor misting decks, the property is also one of few in the area to offer an on-site nail salon.

There’s also eight treatment rooms and two oversized couples’ suites (ideal for couples massages). I’m also a massive fan of their skincare brand, Biologique Recherche, which I’ve featured in several skincare posts. They also offer Seed to Skin, a new-to-me sustainable skincare brand that looks amazing too.

See their full spa menu here, including a wide range of facials, massages, and mind and body rituals.

Elusa Winery

To our disappointment, the only aspect of the property we didn’t get to visit was Elusa Winery. Again, this was not the hotel’s fault but the fact that our trip was pretty packed with other activities. If anything, this gives us even more a reason to return to the property (one of infinite for that matter).

Four Seasons Napa Valley’s vineyard is protected by the Palisades mountains and oak-covered hills. From what I’ve read on the Four Seasons website, Elusa Winery is “a fully operational, organically hand-farmed vineyard celebrates the unique terroir of the Calistoga American Viticultural Area (AVA).”

Their speciality is Cabernet Sauvignon, and Elusa’s winemaker, Thomas Rivers Brown, works diligently with his team to craft phenomenal wines across the board.

Four Seasons Napa Valley Review – In Closing

Sometimes, trips come at the exact time that you need them – for your soul, your mind, and even your body. Four Seasons Napa Valley was exactly what my mind and spirit required. After running a mile a minute at work, I loved taking a step back to just rest and relax.
