Last week, I was thrilled to be featured in Chicago SPLASH‘s spring fashion issue. I wanted to make a “splash” in the print feature with this gorgeous Carolina Herrera Navy Gown with white sequins.
Carolina Herrera Navy Gown
One of the best parts of the experience? Partnering Carolina Herrera to style the perfect outfit for the photo shoot. In fact, the navy gown is an absolute dream in person. All in all, it was definitely a “pinch me” moment!
The gown is from Carolina Herrera’s Resort 2017 collection. In general, the gown is fabricated in silk taffeta with the white stripes made out of sequins! Therefore, when the gown catches the light, it has a dose of sparkle. Love that!
Furthermore, while you can’t see it, the interior structure and bodice is CRAZY. All in all, the bodice sets everything in place, and it wasn’t moving anywhere, lol.
Styling the Look
Frankly, the dress was the star of the photo shoot. Therefore, I decided to keep the accessories pretty straight-forward. To start, I paired it with my favorite gingham clutch from Banana Republic {also in this post}. The navy blue matched the gown and mural perfectly, and I liked adding another print into the mix.
Furthermore, I chose my highest pair of heels. After all, the Carolina Herrera Navy gown was the original sample! Since I’m only 5’4, I needed a high heel so the gown wouldn’t drag too much.
Lastly, I chose my Starburst Earrings by Kendra Scott and signature white sunglasses. Looking back, I’m so happy with the pieces that I chose! The entire photo shoot really came together!
Best Chicago Bloggers and Influencers
In closing, a very special thanks to the Chicago SPLASH team for including me in this feature as one of Chicago’s best bloggers and influencers. Furthermore, the editorial featured two fellow Chicago friends, Blake Gifford of Blake von D and Mina Im of Chicago Food Girl.
Mural Location
Another exciting aspect of the shoot was including one of Chicago’s most colorful walls! It was fun to be the first to share it with everyone on social media (while wearing my most favorite dress of 2015). In general, I love the colors of the mural. They just pop in photos, and it’s one of the city’s go-to spots for vibrant pics!
Sadly, they have changed the wall since these photos were taken. However, I hope the brand will continue to bring colorful street art to the city in the months and years to come.
