Happy National Avocado Day! In June, I spotted this amazing avocado mural near my office. A little while after that, I heard that July 31st is National Avocado Day, so I figured it would be the perfect opportunity to take a few photos at this fun wall! Beyond that, I’m sharing the details on the five best avocado toasts in Chicago. It was a great excuse to visit some of my favorite restaurants in the city! Scroll to the bottom to see all of my picks!
The Five Best Avocado Toasts in Chicago
Here are my five favorite places to get avocado toast in Chicago. There are many more incredible options in the city, and yes, I plan to try them all!
The Allis at Soho House Chicago // 113-125 N Green St {West Loop}
It’s well known that Soho House is a members-only club, and (for privacy reasons) photos are not allowed. Given their membership policies, I wasn’t about to head to the rooftop pool and snap pics of the avocado toast (although it would have made for a cute photo)! Luckily, the first floor of Chicago’s Soho House includes The Allis, Chicken Shop, and Fox Bar, all of which are open to the public! Best of all, it’s is a stone’s throw away from my office, making it easy to enjoy a quick avo toast and coffee before the work day!
Poached egg, basil, lemon, and chili pepper flakes // More details here
City Mouse at Ace Hotel Chicago // 311 N Morgan St {Fulton Market}
Recently opened in Fulton Market, Ace Hotel is Chicago’s newest hip hotel destination. Beyond that, it’s across the street from the new Google Building, so you can bet that happy hour at the hotel’s restaurant, City Mouse, is a great scene. Be sure to ask for a seat at their massive front patio!
Sunflower seeds, radish, Hungarian pepper and a poached egg // More details here
Left Coast Food + Drink // 2878 N Lincoln Ave {Lakeview}
Tucked away in the southwest corner of the Lakeview neighborhood is a casual Chicago spot with a major cult following. Not only do they dish up multiple types of avocado toasts, but their açai bowls and smoothies are to die for. This chill restaurant is the perfect post-workout destination, and it’s a great place to meet friends for a relaxed morning coffee chat.
Laguna Avocado Toast: toasted whole grain bread, avocado, orange slices, sunflower seeds, ricotta salata, sunflower sprouts, orange vinaigrette, za’atar spice // More details here
Summer House Santa Monica // 1954 N Halstead St {Lincoln Park}
Summer House Santa Monica in Lincoln Park always brings the warm weather vibes, even in the middle of winter. In fact, as soon as fall begins, Summer House hangs a countdown sign until the next summer commences! If you’re heading here for dinner on a weekend, plan to wait – but it will be worth it! Lastly, don’t forget to buy a sea salt chocolate chip cookie from their bakery on your way out the door.
Poached eggs, scallion mascarpone, housemade bread // More details here
The Winchester // 1001 N Winchester Ave {East Ukrainian Village}
The Winchester is the perfect embodiment of the neighborhood in which it resides. It’s a chill, comfortable spot, with just a touch of hipster – lol. I love the intimate feel of the restaurant, and their patio is definitely a welcome addition! My old apartment from years ago is just up the street, so I always like taking a quick walk through my old neighborhood after enjoying brunch.
Toasted almonds, red chili, mint, farm egg // More details here
Cheers to National Avocado Toast Day! Where are your favorite places for the best avocado toasts in Chicago or your hometown?
What a fun wall!
I’m (like everybody else it seems) obsessed with avocados right now!
