RIP Anthropologie Chicago pink wall. Dear old friend, how we will miss thee. 🙂
Many months ago, I learned the Anthropologie store in the Lincoln Park neighborhood will be closing its doors. For background, this particular Anthro location has the most perfect pink wall. Frankly, it’s one of the last in Chicago. We’ve used it for more photo shoots than I can count. In some ways, it’s been like a sidekick all of these years.
Are we REALLY talking about a wall in today’s blog post? Haha, yes, yes we are. But please give me a moment to explain. Or at least try, lol! 🙂

Anthropologie Chicago Pink Wall
Since launching Style Charade, the Anthropologie Chicago pink wall in Lincoln Park has been SO helpful. Truly. Listen, we adore the Windy City. I’m a lifelong Chicagoan – the city is the best!
But over the past couple of years, it’s become extremely tough to capture content here. You’ve probably seen me shift to more interior photography and luxury travel. There’s a reason for that.
First and foremost, the weather. When the best you can get is highs in the mid 40’s all the way into mid April, the freezing cold is never fun. Thankfully, we had one warmish day when we photographed this eyelet set, but not many other days like it. After blogging since 2008, we’re used to the freezing weather. But other aspects things have become more challenging as well.

Capturing Content
One thing that comes with photographing is getting rude comments from strangers. From whistling to people shouting out of car windows, we’re used to annoying antics.
What’s changed over the years is comments are more frequent and also the situations are stranger. Without diving into everything, I’m often struck by the sheer amount strangers who grab their phones to film or capture us while photographing. We’re not that interesting, I promise. Listen, we can handle it (and have for years), but it’s… odd.

We’ve noticed this behavior more in other cities, too. In some ways, I’m glad it’s not just a Chicago thing, but it’s still strange to see. It’s also not lost on me that it’s never a female being rude or aggressive. In fact, when a woman passes by, there’s even a chance I’ll get an, “I love that dress!” or a “you look so great!” Quite the opposite from male strangers. Imagine that!
Solutions, Solutions
To avoid these situations, we’re waking up earlier than ever or finding alternate venue solutions to capture content. Mostly, we just photograph in our home to make it more streamlined. So here’s where the Anthropologie Chicago pink wall comes in. Promise I was going to circle back to the topic at hand. 🙂
Beyond avoiding the rude whistling and the ongoing comments and videos being taken, the Anthropologie Chicago pink wall was a safe haven. It’s tucked away on a side street with a parking lot right there, so it’s been such an fabulous location. Plus, this soft shade of pink is pure perfection in my book.

Anthropologie Chicago Pink Wall – In Closing
In some ways, this wall has become a regular character in the narrative of Style Charade. No one ever gave us a hard time. We always felt secure, and the company never made it a big deal of us using it as a destination to capture looks for brands. In fact, we worked with Anthro many times and even partnered with them to capture the beautiful exterior of their downtown store location. Love that! We hope to be able to do so again soon!
Do I need sympathy for any of this? Not even for a second 🙂 We’ve chosen to plant roots in Chicago. Plus, there are WAY bigger things and issues happening in the world, of course. Trust me, I know!

But as longtime readers know, this blog has always had a few cornerstone elements. Two of which have been fashion and colorful walls/murals. So all I’m saying is this city makes it tough. The Windy City really makes you work for it.
Anthropologie Chicago pink wall – thanks for making this journey easier. You will be missed.
