Another amazing year in the books for the #VCPoloClassic! At a sunny 91 degrees, the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic 2021 returned to Los Angeles at Will Rogers State Historic Park. It’s my all-time fave event of the fall, and it did not disappoint! Plus, it’s the first time a Polo Classic has taken place in more than a year and a half. Therefore, it was AMAZING, in fact emotional, to be back at the event.
Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic 2021
Over the years, I’ve taken a step back from most events (even prior to 2020). Large scale parties, in most cases, can be slightly anxiety-inducing for me. Sure, I host a lot of gatherings for my job. However, I’ve found that they tend to make me overthink everything – what to wear, who’s going to be there, the amount of small talk with strangers for hours, etc. For the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic, I’m always excited (and honored) to attend. Plus, it takes place at the same time each year, so it’s easy to mark the calendar in advance.
As in the past, Bob and I coordinated with our dear friends Meg and John. Outside of Facetime, we haven’t seen them since fall of 2019, so it was such a wonderful reunion. Even better, the four of us were able to have an incredible dinner that night. They’re the best.
We are very thankful to have them in our lives. They are the most genuine, empathetic, kind, thoughtful and talented duo. In conversation with them, we always feel like we’ve been friends forever. As we say (and will continue to), we’ll always do life together. No matter what.
The Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic has been the best tradition with them, and we can’t wait for it to continue!
Travel Logistics
This year, it was a bit more complicated to get to the event (to say the least). The week leading up to it, I was in Portugal for a work conference, so I actually flew from Lisbon to Newark then from Newark to Los Angeles. Thankfully, the United flight from Newark was on their new 787-10 Dreamliner, so it was a smooth and comfortable experience (hello, Polaris Premium)! United never lets me down. The flight was impeccable!
To note, I needed to take a COVID test before flying to Lisbon and prior to flying back to the US. Additionally, the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic 2021 required proof of vaccination at check-in. Lastly, it was an entirely outdoor event, so we definitely had more peace of mind on attending. Kudos to their team for being so buttoned up!
What I wore to the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic 2021
As I mentioned earlier, the LA Polo Classic takes place on the same weekend each year. As such, I had it in the back of my mind all summer. When I came across this bold colorblock dress, I knew it would be a fantastic option. When I remembered I own a J. Crew clutch in similar colors and then discovered this affordable fascinator on Etsy, it all came together! At the 2018 Polo Classic in New York, I wore a pastel fascinator and loved how that look came together, so it was fun to try out another headpiece! I brought these matching bow slides, but decided on a neutral heel instead.
The other outfit options I considered included this yellow floral dress, this pink Lela Rose suit, this stripe 3.1 Phillip Lim dress, and this Stella Jean mixed print dress. For Bob, he came across this cotton-linen suit on sale at J. Crew and was immediately thankful for purchasing it when we discovered the forecast was 91 degrees and sunny, lol!
Special thanks to the amazing team at Veuve Clicquot for inviting us. Congrats on an amazing event! We can’t wait for the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic New York 2022! For more coverage, please be sure to check-out the past event coverage and outfits below:
