One kate spade new york skirt three ways
It’s no secret that kate spade new york is one of my favorite fashion brands. ksny gets it right every time. While other companies shy away from color, kate spade fully embraces all things bold, bright, and cheerful. It’s even a part of the brand’s DNA – the essential ingredient, if you will (along with whimsy and all things feminine, of course). With New York Fashion Week only a few months away, I’m already on on my high-heeled tippy toes, ready to see what they’ll do next.

My first kate spade new york purchase was in 1996 – more than 20 years ago (crazy to think)! At the time, their classic nylon bags were everything, and I purchased a classic black tote bag and later the mini backpack in a blueish grey. The black nylon bag was my first “big” bag purchase at the time, and I remember wearing it proudly wherever I went. The brand still has the exact same effect on me today.
Over the years, and throughout the evolution of the company, the kate spade new york’s mantra of “live colorfully” has pretty much been a guiding force for my wardrobe – a compass for my closet. They design for the girl on the go, all while maintaining the quality that we’ve come to expect from the brand. This season, their pre-fall collection was inspired by high summer in Mexico City. After traveling to Mexico City a few times, I can totally see the design inspiration from the novelty bags to the beautiful embroidered dresses.
One piece from the collection caught my eye was the Geo Border Poplin Skirt – it’s perfect for my 9 AM to 9 PM lifestyle. The midi skirt offers the comfort and versatility needed for a hectic schedule (and I don’t have to worry about looking weird at work, meetings, or dinner dates with friends). To prove its versatility, I’ve styled this one kate spade new york skirt three ways:
FIRST: CLASSIC WITH A TWIST
Carolina Herrera once said, “I love white shirts because they feel like a security blanket. You can wear them with anything. It’s the person and the way they wear it that makes it different.” I completely agree with this sentiment! White button-down shirts are my go-to solution for elevating any look (examples here, here, and here). I’m fully convinced kate spade new york’s Poplin Flutter Sleeve Top is the best investment for a white button-down shirt. I have received SO many compliments when I’ve worn it, be it with jeans or this colorful skirt.

SECOND: MORE IS MORE
When it comes to prints, people often shy away from too many clashing combinations. I get it – some styles and combos just don’t work. However, when done correctly, “more” really can be “more.” The Geo Border Poplin Skirt has a lot of colors to play with for layers – red, pink, blue, and black. I chose to pair it with a gingham top, and tie it together with my favorite gingham sandals (also worn in this post).

THIRD: DRESS IT UP
I’m loving all of the off-the-shoulder styles this season, aren’t you? It’s been such a fun trend! I’m a big believer that these tops work well with everything – with jeans, with maxi skirts – seriously everything! Plus, the style feels so romantic. When my husband and I were planning a date night, I styled the skirt with this black OTS top and statement earrings. It felt like the perfect balance of dressy while remaining comfortable.

I recognize some of these walls from my neighborhood in San Francisco, but where is that tiled wall in the final shot? So pretty!
